Experience 3 different roles, with one employer.

We have created an excellent opportunity for a nurse to experience 3 different settings within the stroke pathway. This role will give you variety as well as an insight into the patients journey within acute and community settings.

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, and take part in a 2 year programme, rotating into 3 different areas within stroke. You’ll become an expert and at the end of the programme, can choose where you’d like to specialise or move on to another rotation.

Starting with Dunkery Ward at Musgrove Park Hospital, you will look after acutely unwell patients admitted to the hospital with a stroke. The ward is a 23 bedded unit, including 4 beds in the Hyper-acute Stroke Unit. We are also part of the national stroke research network.

You will then move into a community hospital setting, working closely with the patients to aid their rehabilitation and see them return to their own homes. Here we have a positive and pro-active approach to the Home First Initiative, working hard to ensure that the patient’s experience in the community hospitals are both short and pleasant.

Your final part of the rotation will be with the award winning Early Supported Discharge (ESD) Team.  This county-wide service helps patients who have suffered stroke or brain injury to leave hospital more quickly by providing them with essential rehabilitation at home.

During this rotational experience your clinical knowledge base will grow, having had the opportunity to support patients from hospital, to the community and back to their homes. You’ll be able to share your unique experience as you progress through your rotational programme, putting new skills into practice daily.
